Govt. of India vide notification dated May 12, 2011, announced the E-waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011 (Rules). According to these Rules, consumers are now legally responsible for disposing of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in the prescribed manner. This means not giving it away or throwing it into dustbins or selling it to scrap dealers. This approach helps control environmental pollution.
Recycling electronic products is one of the best ways for E-gate, its consumers, and manufacturers to contribute to sustainable development and demonstrate social responsibility. Recycling ensures valuable and scarce raw materials used in electronics get reused in manufacturing new products. Plastics, metals, and glass get a second life, benefiting us as consumers and citizens by conserving finite natural resources. Additionally, recycling helps keep raw material prices down, lowering the cost of final products for all consumers.
